Hi,
Club Single Spares sell a sludge trap with a metric head so you can use a hexagonal type socket to remove it.

These jobs are a lot easier if you have a hydraulic ramp. If you remove the cylinder you can chisel out the trap then replace it with the metric one.

Hi, all. I am fitting a 1939 VH engine into a 1954 swinging arm frame. I am offering up the rear engine plates. When the bolts to secure them to the frame and gearbox are fitted, the holes do not match the footrest rod. If I do file, I suppose I should file here. Are the plates different for the dif...

Is it just me, but my all alloy VH pinks a lot nowadays? I've just checked the timing and it is just less than 1/2 inch BTDC.

According to the Radco book you can repair with araldite. Now I just need a bit of scrap fin.

Can cast iron be filed OK?
