Re: Piston circlips

Checking two pairs of piston circlips. The pair I have not tried is a little smaller than the other. Will try them later.

Can you re-use piston circlips (the sensible ones with little tags)?

Asking for a friend.

Re: better brake

Fitting a 8" finned BSA brake to a 54 Ariel. You can get ACME stainless to make you a new spindle the same overall length but approx 1/4 inch longer for the thinner section. I sent Clay the wrong sizes and resorted to filing off the original spindle. You need a spacer to fill the space between ...

Piston circlips

Hi, all

The piston circlips supplied by our favourite suppliers (Drags and Single spares) are featureless wires. I can't get mine to go in.

1. How do you fit these items?

2. Where can I get G shaped circlips with little tags to fit my 1939 VH?

Re: Chaincase E9/6436

Thanks for the replies, Bob and Johnny. The number is actually E9/3436, so it is for a 56 on single.

Grinding in the cylinder head

Hi! I am building a 1939 VH engine. I was grinding the head to the cylinder and getting on nicely when I noticed a mark on the cylinder head where the spigot sits. I gave it a scrape and lo! and behold! a thin aluminium gasket came off. So, back to square one with coarse paste on the cylinder and fi...

Re: Sludge Trap Replacement.

Hi,
Club Single Spares sell a sludge trap with a metric head so you can use a hexagonal type socket to remove it.

Re: Always check and clean your sludge traps

These jobs are a lot easier if you have a hydraulic ramp. If you remove the cylinder you can chisel out the trap then replace it with the metric one.

Re: Engine plates

I do notice rigid/plunger are different. What do others find when building on a new (to them) frame?
