Re: Petrol tank for VH/NH/KH 1954-1955

Patrice,
Best to post this tank in the regular parts for sale because it is not a W/NG part and most members will miss your add.

Re: Engine fin polishing

Don’t you think that well cleaned, vapour blasted or fine glass beaded cases and barrels, combined with polished timing and primary cases looks the most natural? Possibly polishing the outermost fin edges would be a suitable compromise. Over polishing will loose judging points.

Re: The making of Royal Enfield's nowadays

I’ve heard there are 800,000 units sold annually in India alone. There’s a dealer five minutes from my work so of course I checked them out. The 650 is a very nice machine and the price is more than fair, along with an excellent warranty and road service program.

Re: Some woman can ride.

Whoa, that is hard to watch. Only the young and invincible would take that on. If one of those bikes looses traction while backing up, both bike and rider could end up over the edge. Smaller wheel base trail bikes would be more appropriate.

Re: Top gearbox fastener

I’ll take another look at it, Simon. The temptation is to create a fix because this is a very tight space. It would have been best if the previous owner hadn’t drilled the hole out just because they didn’t have the correct bolt on hand.

Top gearbox fastener

Working on 46 NG. When going to release the fixing bolt on the top end of the gearbox I found that someone had drilled out the primary side rear engine plate hole for the top bolt. Now instead of the hole being a D hole, it is round. Instead of using a through bolt with a flat spot, this person used...

Re: Ancient Ariel sign

Deciding which materials to use. Square bar, flat bar, combination of both? You know how it goes, make one and then people with intimate knowledge come out of the woodwork to say how it should have been constructed. It looks like the horizontal support could be square bar and the scrolls are either f...

Re: Ancient Ariel sign

Thanks, Johnny. I have a good idea of how to structure it and of course I earn a living making things from metal, so this will be a fairly easy task. What I am hoping for is something archival, like a picture of a comparable sign outside an Ariel shop from a hundred years ago. That would be over the...

Re: Ancient Ariel sign

That sounds interesting, Vincent. The sign is 20 inches wide and 18 inches in height.
