Re: VB single lobe cam followers

A7/664 was the VB cam I think. Same as used in the Red Hunters.

Re: Engine rebuild - W/NG

I've found John Budgen to be good on price for big ends. Sounds like all your pocket money will be used up, but it'll be worth it,

Re: Identify a ariel

Looks like WNG to me, maybe with added or updated parts. And the XG frame number would be right. So 1941.

If it was me I'd drop Bennet Longman a note with the pictures and ask him if he thinks that there would be problems dating it and getting a V5C from DVLA - he is the best man to ask.

That is on Ebay for £800 at the moment. Been on for £900 for ages before that. Beware though - if you bid and win, you will get a Pixie...

Branch Meetings

Morning

With the lockdown being eased shortly, are we OK to re-start Branch meetings? If so, what COVID safeguards do we need to put in place? I'm assuming we will follow Govt guidance of course, but do we need to do a risk assessment?

Is there an official AOMCC view on this?

Re: Vintage Ariel Clutch

It has to allow the drive sprocket to float clear of the plate fixed to the driveshaft. I probably have some of those AJS ballraces new. Check your sizes. How far away from the webmaster do you live? Nev Thanks Nev. Andy Hughes is taking a look for me. The Webmaster being John Nash? I live a lot cl...

Re: Vintage Ariel Clutch

Yes a ball bearing Nev - I did say bearing I think (reading text back...) - I think its likely the same type of clutch as an AJS. The AJS clutch bearing is 11/16" ID, 1 5/8" OD and 5/16" deep. That's not far off the measurements from my clutch parts. The only AJS bearing I can see is ...

Vintage Ariel Clutch

Hello Been progressing my 1920 Ariel during lockdown - I have got the gearbox back together and now looking at the clutch. Looking at the parts lists my clutch driven plate should have a bearing in the middle - mine doesn't. Can anyone confirm the size? Measurements from the parts suggest ID of 0.68...

Re: KH engine in a single frame

Well, to put a single engine in a twin frame all you need to do is change the front engine plates (using swingarm single plates). It would seem sensible therefore that to go the other way you would need to do the same (meaning change the front engine plates). I can't believe that you would need to m...
