Knud - thank you for the suggestion - to lift the entire block by means of a baseplate is probably a bit late in current assembly stage... It might have been considered earlier but the piston crowns have already been skimmed to be flush with the top of the block at existing standard base gasket... I...

NO WAY Paul - 2 head gaskets? it's problem enough getting one to remain sealed!!! Seriously - I'l pretty sure I'll go for the shortening of the pushrods... It's the most rational... A thicker cylinder base gasket / spacer may incur cam follower issues, x2 head gaskets is virtually guaranteed to blow...

Hi folks, Couple of issues wrt the valve gear whilst I continue with the nth rebuild, it's a Mk1, all ally,'49 ; - 1/ probably due to countless surface regrounds, during valve compession the rocker arm bears on the valve spring cup... solutions(?) a/ shorten pushrod thus effectively lengthen the tap...

Back in my days; - solos up to 250cc on L plate... unlimited capacity on L if chaired. On solos you could take a pillion providing that the pillion held a full m/c licence, On chairs you could take ANYONE in the chair but pillions had to be full m/c licence... Well before my time you didn't even nee...

intriguing hand machined lattice work on the RH piston... any ideas as to wtf the owner was trying to achieve???

Paul - thanks for the nudge re Acme Stainless... trouble is that whenever I go onto Clay & Sharron's website... I end up buying somewhat more than I intended... still, they're way under Drags markups! Si - yes - am sure my '49 requires one a/ to give structural integrity to the housing & bat...
