Re: Tight Gearbox

Adrian,
Look inside the primary cases, there should be a cast in number. The parts lists shows it should be E9/1087 for the inner case

Cheers

Re: Tight Gearbox

Adrian Flange to the outside (top pic). That's how mine is fitted, primary chain lines up spot on and clutch/gearbox are both smooth and precise. SDC11684.JPG To tighten the big nut I sandwiched an old friction plate between two old plain plates, drilled through all three and bolted them all togethe...

Re: Mechanical Regulator Question.

If the regulator is working correctly there should be no need for a separate on / off switch as a cut out switch / solenoid is incorporated within the regulator. It sounds as though the cut out section of your regulator is not operating correctly. The cutout points (which isolate the battery from th...

Re: Engine Breathing Singles - return to oil tank

I think for a video to play direct on forum yo need to post it to YouTube and then put the YouTube link in the post. However, if members left click on the IMG_2460.m4v file name in Steve's post it should download the video to their computer and they can left cliick on the downloaded file and play it...

Re: SQ4 Sludge Trap enlargement

Re Mikes suggestion of checking the contents of the sludge trap for magnetic particles: I did this on my 1951 Triumph 6T a few years ago. The traps are the same design as on the Ariel so the results are relevent, other than no other type of oil filter was fitted The removed sludge was first mixed wi...

Re: Stolen

May not mean anything but one of the other 'Varients' Square 4's is on Ebay UK at the moment...looks like the common spoof listing as it does not link to a 'for sale page' Odd that it has been posted at this time though https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l2632.R2.T...

Re: Italian job Ariel

Well....apart from the obvious (DIY plunger with seriously shortened wheelbase) the frame number XG 43171 and engine number BH 32908 both relate to a 1943 contract date and late 1943/early 1944 despatch date (so not 1942 and not an NH). However, having said that lots of bits look original WNG...rear...

Re: - GIRDER FORK SUSPENSION -

I thought it was only the 350CC WNG model that had the longer front fork? The forks needed to be longer as the frame had a higher than standard rear section so the forks and frame are matched. So ....David it may help if you let us know the frame number so we can see exactly which frame you have. Th...
