As far as I am aware the swing arm brackets attached to the leg on the drive side are different to the models with the ferc chain case and the earlier top and bottom chainguards.

Thanks David for the close up photo of the frame tank mount the BSA foot mount splines..
are from the 1954 on BSA swing arm frames John Mackintosh NZ.

Congratulations David for your restoration work on that severly vandalised Swing Arm frame. The efforts of Basil Bodgers never cease to amaze me. I too have a couple of Swing Arm frames that have attachment brackets cannabilised, but fortunately not to the extent of yours has been. What I would like...

As Nev has said 1939 on iron head may be the way to go as will be easier to source.Do not know about exhaust pipe comparability though.

Thanks Nev for your comments on cam details I was aware that J.A.P used roller followers but I was not aware that they were used on the rockers.Have read that cam profiles need to match roller followers and to radius lever followers perhaps you can comment on this. While on the subject of cams for Ariel singles can anyone suggest a suitable two lobe cam profile that will give a bit more urge than the standard A7/664 to be road used? Have seen that J.A.P. profiles may be the way to go but I guess that they would only be suitable for alcohol,high comp engines.So...
