Primary chain tension - '58 Huntmaster

Simon, I tried to send a PM but not sure it went so I will send it again to the group as follows: I tightened the primary chain too much and am now trying to back it off but no luck with simply loosening the draw bolt adjuster. I did note the secondary chain loosening as I was going through the proc...

Re: Primary chain tension - '58 Huntmaster

Mick, yes got it now re the draw bolt being the adjuster! Chris, I live in Peterborough and belong to the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Club but I'm not aware of anyone in the Club with a Huntmaster.

Re: Primary chain tension - '58 Huntmaster

Chris, thanks for the offer but I'm located in Canada (Ontario) and Ariels are as scarce as hens teeth over here so no local assistance is available. Simon, thanks for the detailed description. Clear as mud haha! but a hell of a lot better than the description in the manual. Mick, thanks for the pic...

Re: Primary chain tension - '58 Huntmaster

Nev, thanks. That's good info for when I've actually exposed the primary chain to adjust it but I'm several steps short of that per the questions I was asking. i.e. which bolts to loosen to pivot the gearbox and what do I take off to get at the primary chain itself?

Primary chain tension - '58 Huntmaster

I have a few questions concerning this procedure as the primary chain seems to be slapping against the bottom of the engine casing at idle. While I have a workshop manual of sorts, there are no diagrams by which I can be guided. Instructions say the chain tension is adjusted by pivoting the gearbox ...

Re: Charging issue with 58 Huntmaster

Thanks everyone for the comments. Some of what you suggested I’ve done already but lots of helpful tips here. Will get stuck into it and post back with results!

Charging issue with 58 Huntmaster

I've posted to the Forum before on this but am still stymied trying to resolve the issue. When running, the bike discharges the battery fairly rapidly with the lights on - within a 20-30km ride I end up with a dim (or no) headlight, no horn, no tail light or brake light. The ammeter needle fluctuate...

Wiring hole position on E3L dynamo end cap

I have a person in Canada who has end caps (something that Draganfly has been out of stock on forever). He has a couple of different types with the mouse hole as he calls it (rubber grommet) where the wiring enters the dynamo, at a different position once the dynamo is rotated on the timing chain an...
