The Old Prison

Hi all,

53 super miles including a stop at The Old Prison, Northleach. Got several thumbs up from bikers on modern machinery, and a special wave from a couple out for a run in their open touring car of about 1940 vintage.

Now there's a thought Paul. I did wonder if they might have been stamped at Chilwell or Tewkesbury depots if the gearbox had possibly been swapped out in the dim and distant past...........................................

Gearbox number embossed on Outer Case "40 M-9"

Any ideas what if anything these mean

Hi Roger, When I built up my 1960 Ariel Leader I found the swinging arm to be both twisted and slightly out of line (about half an Inch or so) which after refitting revealed itself when the rear shocks were no longer vertical.
