Thanks for the information Alan, I am not at all worried about the chrome being damaged and will try the magnet test tomorrow. But given that they are chromed how will I know when the copper is heated to cherry red? ready for quenching? or allowed to cool? Will the chrome burn off with heating? Sorr...

Oil delivery and return pipes.

Hi all, I have got a 1942 W/NG which is fitted with chromed delivery and return pipes from oil tank to timing chest. I think they are probably Draganfly issue and both foul the O/S footrest/frame mounting point as shown in the attached photos. If I leave them like this they will ultimately fail and ...

The Old Prison

Hi all,

53 super miles including a stop at The Old Prison, Northleach. Got several thumbs up from bikers on modern machinery, and a special wave from a couple out for a run in their open touring car of about 1940 vintage.

Now there's a thought Paul. I did wonder if they might have been stamped at Chilwell or Tewkesbury depots if the gearbox had possibly been swapped out in the dim and distant past...........................................

Gearbox number rear of Main Shell "SEC 29 44"

Gearbox number embossed on Outer Case "40 M-9"

Any ideas what if anything these mean
