Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2020

Steven, is there a screw missing on the top of the outer gearbox casing?

Re: Clutch Lever still feels heavy.

just re-read Paul's post and I missed his comment about the clutch lever pivot centre being wrong.
Attention to details is an age thing I am told...... Good eyes Paul!

Re: Clutch Lever still feels heavy.

Hi All, Quick update on my clutch being a little too stiff to operate. I now have some cable outer casing with Teflon inner and new braided cable with ferrules and nipples to fit. Next week should see this installed. Got the items from Venhill as Feked couldn't tell me what liner they used in their ...

Re: The splendid and under rated VB

Go for it Keith, you know you want one.
( say's he who hasn't started or risen his own one as yet!)

The splendid and under rated VB

I happened across this whilst surfing the web. Most of these comments have been made about the VB before but it’s interesting the bike still generates plenty of plaudits. This on from India.?

Re: Clutch Lever still feels heavy.

Paul, yes I think my handle bar levers are slightly too large, measured as 1” pivot to nipple centre. The pics I have posted show some overhang. Both clutch and front brake levers are the same, bought as a set, second hand off eBay 8 years ago. I will try and find smaller levers parts. On the gearbo...

Re: ... And now the lower Chain Guard to mount!

Ha, my thought exactly Paul, seriously considering to do without, after all 99% of the roads I would ride will be sealed. Might also limit my exposure to wet weather anyway unless caught out on a club run... I note the the front mount on the upper guard I have from India has a meaty metal plate weld...

Re: Clutch Lever still feels heavy.

Mmmm, I can easily swap out the hardened end push rod for a rod and ball to try so I will do that next day or so and report back.
Vincent and Simon, I appreciate the advice and help received, The club members are so helpful and there is always something to learn.
Cheers

Re: Clutch Lever still feels heavy.

Vincent, I have a spare gearbox adjuster so I did some macro photography (attempt) on my iPhone SE!!! It is same as the one on my bike. Ignore the non parallel cable cut, but you can see the shelf or step just inside the threaded end. this is where I reason the cable ferrule should push against, hen...
