Re: '57 VH 500 - New Member

Welcome to the club. Your VH looks to have all the right bits and be very original. Air filters are like rocking horse droppings! As Steve says lots of knowledge in the Hampshire group. I bought my 1957 VH from one of them last year. He had completely rebuilt it in 2010. I love the bike and it was r...

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

I had a 700 Deauville for 5 years covering over 30k miles on it. The keys which contain a transponder are very very soft. Having them bend in the filler cap due to the tank bag falling on it or in the pannier locks is all too easy. The transponder keys used to be only available from Honda at signifi...

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

Isn't technology wonderful! At least they did let you out eventually, and people wonder why stress levels are so high. The quite reasonable desire to "kill something" just has to be overcome. The VH looks lovely, it will be a great bike for somebody, I love mine, its perfect for club runs....

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

Had a great ride with the Cotswold section of the VMCC. Beautiful country and lovely weather. Lunch at the Severn Valley Railway at Bewdley. The family history attached to your house on Bere Island is amazing, its great you are keeping it and making it habitable. Solved the starting problems I have ...

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

Bere Island is a beautiful spot, it will be worth it when its done. nipples of cables is just an ordinary event on an old British bike! Out on my VH tomorrow round the Cotswolds. At least it should be dry.

A good old Nazi motorcycle club. Glad it didn't survive 1945.

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

Steve,
Something not right. On last Octobers Colombres rally I did a couple of 190+ mile days on my (ex Alan) VH and only took 17/18 litres on each occasion. You should be able to get over 200 unless you really thrash it of course!

Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on an Ariel 2019

This morning I parted with my hard earned money and purchased "The Classic Motorcycle", February 2019 edition only to find it full of your pictures and pictures of your Huntmaster. It didn't even carry a health warning, wasn't on the top shelf and was not in a plain wrapper. There was just...
