Re: 500 Single

I have two WNG's and a 1947 twinport 500 single advantages of a 500 (over a 350) include: Going up hills much. much better . esp long ones, Going a little bit faster. Less good things include, more starting technique and beefier kick required, noticably harsher ride and more expensive to buy. The 35...

Re: Loose chain

simon didn't explicitly say it .... your chain is too loose: it's not normal and it needs to be tightened. As Simon ssays, you need to slacken the three bolts that hold the magneto to it's platform and move it back. You may need the foor rest and foot rest spacer off to give you enough space to work...

Re: Dynamo / Electronic regulator woes

Has anyone had any experience with perhaps brushes made from the wrong hardness carbon, or the likes? Strangely enough, I don't quite trust it!! Keith yeah I had some issues with brushes, which would smear the commutator very quickly and stop the dynamo working I cannot now remember where I got the...

Re: Engine revs rising when air lever opened

if the slide is truly at the bottom, then the bike should stall. I assume you've backed off the idle screw and given the cable enough slack to be 100% certain ? If there is an airleak, past a loose slide or through the manifold, then the bike will run. The needle shouldn't make any odds here, unless...

Ariel Atzori's Italian rally

(from John Mitchel):

In addition to sending me an excellent write up of the Rally, which will start in Cheval next month, Steve Willmot has sent me the following. A bit big for a 32 page Cheval but well worth a wider audience. ..

Re: Engine revs rising when air lever opened

Thanks for your replies. The carb is a 930, not sure of the jet sizes, but can check later. Magdyno ignition. I cannot see any movement of the main slide when the choke is opened or closed. There is no air filter so easy to check. As I mentioned it was starting and idling OK a few months back. Drop...

Re: Engine revs rising when air lever opened

It might be obvious ... When the air lever is "closed", it "drops" a little slide into the mouth of the carburettor, to choke it. When you "open" the air lever, it raises the little slide. This little slide isn't getting caught and raising the main slide at the same tim...
