You can get the 350's to go a bit better with a high comp piston and fruiter cam - there are plenty of posts on the forum about doing that. I tried this the other day, with big clunky cable ties I could release with tiny screwdriver. (and reuse)
I couldn't get the tyre over the last bit without two "helps" from the levers, but there is no risk of catching the tube and it was much quicker

Many thanks for the very helpful replies, as for sliding on an oil slick I live in Canada, driving 5 months of the year on snow and ice, so I should be ok with that, I do ride year round but on a Ural and sidecar in the winter. me too !
