Re: square 4 carb conversion

When you replace the starter jet washer, observe the cross drilled hole in the jet is fully open to the well. I used two washers for mine to be unobscured. Not sure it makes a great difference, but when I was having trouble with cold starting, it was one of the things I fixed.

Tuning SQ4 by ear

Seeking advice. I meticulously timed my Mk1 ignition at TDC on #1. I am now doing road tests. 15 miles so far, and next step is re-tension the head at 50 miles. Beyond that I would like to know more about optimising the ignition timing. After setting the ignition with a timing disk, I am hesitant to...

Re: KH/KG Front Engine plate

Oops, I went to put the parts away and found the sides are a little different. Here is a tracing of the RHS and a couple of pics. Sorry some of the pics before are upside down, but you get the idea.

Re: KH/KG Front Engine plate

I forgot to say the metal thickness of the original is 2.5mm. The flat ones I mage for sidecar use are 1/4".

Re: KH/KG Front Engine plate

Here's a tracing, holes sizes are nominal, drill for clearance. If you are going to fabricate a replica of the pressed part, the strip can be cut, bent and welded. Note that the front of the plate is not bent at 90 deg to the side. I measured 101 degrees, but the front is slightly rounded. Photos in...

Re: 1930 Model A

It almost looks like it will foul the exhaust pipe. I would keep it, it looks alright and does the job. But Simon you are an experienced restorer, whatever decision you make will be the right one, you don't need to ask.
