There is a better way to hold items such as hubs,and that is by mounting a small free rotating 4 jaw chuck on a morse taper to fit in the tailstock barrel.There is no need to endload the hub,no need for adaptors ,and if the hub is offcentre ,it can be adjusted to run true by centreing the chuck.If y...

My advice is to never use EP oils in anything that is not in continuous use........any water or condensation moisture will combine with the EP additives and attack steel surfaces in the box.......causing black pitting corrosion so familiar to repairers........so stick with straight mineral oils........

The pushrod can be expanded by using a tapered hardened pin.(moly so it will come out).The rocker will need to be reamed and an oversize ballend fitted unless plating will restore the fit.De-hydrogenation ? only requires 200deg C ,so can be done in your kitchen oven.This temp will cause slight reduc...

These carbys were plentiful a few years ago,when the army disposed of the Universal engines.FHD=right hand float: FHG= left hand float.They do not incorporate any kind of Solex "starter" and will need a choking flap added.Bike ones usually had a sliding disc incorporated into the tin intak...

Cutting a valve seat oversize is a very simple way of repairing a sunk seat.Its often said to hurt performance where its needed,low speed acceleration.Probably not as much as a pocketed valve .The cast iron of bikes is very easy to cut with hand cutters.
