Re: Flexible petrol pipe

Just an observation. Shouldn't your tank mounting rubbers be the other way around? i.e.thicker one to the top to support the tank on the frame lug? :)

Re: Chrono speedo repare

I'll second that one. I sent off my speedo from my square 4 (which wasn't working), and he emailed me back to say it wasn't actually the right speedo for the bike. He re-calibrated it for the bike, and reconditioned it, and I had it back as new a week later. Excellent job.

Re: '58 SQ4 REBUILD

Hi Stewart - if you're not against sane upgrades; - strongly suggest an Iron Horse alternator - 12v 300W - then you can see, be seen & fit heated grips, an en suite closet & whatever takes your fancy... recommend you do NOT use cheaper alternatives to the Iron Horse device... Have Kirby Row...

Re: Petrol tank cap seal material?

Viton rubber sheet is available. Cut a new ring of this using the original cork one as a template. Viton rubber is resistant to ethanol, whereas cork will eventually disintegrate in contact with ethanol in fuel. Google it.

Re: Square Four screen/fairing

I wouldn't fit a full fairing to a Square 4. They tend to run hot as it is, and the reduction in air flow over the engine would possibly be detrimental.

Looks like the oil delivery pipe from the bottom of a Square 4 oil tank.

Re: Cleaning out fuel tank of Sq 4

https://www.tankcareproducts.co.uk/ I used their products on my Sq4 tank, which had previously been sealed with a product called Petseal, which wasn't compatible with the ethanol in modern fuels. They do a Petseal remover, and various de-rusters and chemical cleaners and de-waterers for use prior to...

Re: '58 SQ4 REBUILD

I have a '57 Mk II, and the tool box appears to be the same, apart from mine has no holes in it for switches etc. Looks like that one has been badly butchered (someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong). Most of the holes appear to be for light switch, ammeter etc, but on mine these items are mo...

Re: Buing a Square four sidecar combination

£20,000 give or take does seem a tad pricey. For that money I would want a cast iron guarantee that the motor has been properly refurbished by someone competent. There are quite a lot of horror stories of engines supposedly re built without having made sure the oilways etc are clear of sludge build ...
