Re: My new projekt/bike 55 SQ 4 MK ll

Update: The oil supply of one rocker box was blocked with carbon and in all boxes the rubber sealing ring was missing. I have on the SU carburetor a "lifting pin" installed in order to check the mixture setting more simplier. 20181118_101723 (Mittel).jpg And thanks to Simes "rule of ...

Re: My new projekt/bike 55 SQ 4 MK ll

Now had time to remove the cylinder head, a simple straightforward job. Had no problems and could even leave the carburetor on the intake manifold, one source of failure less. The head gasket was as expected at the tappet guide funnel leaking, but otherwise in good condition like as new. Found that ...

If you change the rods you have to make a total engin strip down (rod nuts changed to underneath and ARPA bolts) so you can easily clean also the sludge traps.

Re: Fork mods?

Have now made 2 sets of dampers (one for the BSA and one for the Ariel). It was a simple, straightforward thing with John's drawings and explanations. Will now measure the oil level in the forks (and the inside diameter of the Ariel fork) to determine the length of the rods. I think I will choose th...

Re: Fork mods?

Had a discussion in the BSA forum aboutz "clanking" in the fork on my very early A7 (longstroke model). Have then got this drawing: https://www.a7a10.net/forum/index.php?topic=2895.0 Will make this part / system for my BSA A7, but I think it fits also in the Ariel fork (which is much bette...
