Re: Eye Bolt Huntmaster Gearbox

Re oil level, fill to level then tip bike to left at 45 degree's.Let surplus oil come out, when upright oil is at required level. Hi Seems a lot of faff when you can see the oil level and the chain through the inspection cap Oil Level.png Any idea where the level is after your procedure? Regards Mick

Re: gears two neutrls

do you think my gear selector dowels could be worn and making not go into gear first time Hi It's possible but unlikely unless the gearbox has had a really hard life. Are you expecting too quick a gear change? With steady gentle pressure on the gear lever and the gearbox rotating the gears should c...

Re: Eye Bolt Huntmaster Gearbox

Hi Lee

Can't really help with the level question - my FH is still under restoration. When I get to the point of filling the chain case I plan to fill it until the chain is just dipping, (around 1/8"), into the oil based on my experience with other marques.

Hi Lee

Yes mine does the same, I just nip it up with a ring spanner whilst applying downward pressure - it doesn't need to be tight, just nipped to remove any slack.

Re: Eye Bolt Huntmaster Gearbox

Hi Roger / Lee As I said, once the primary chain tension is set and the gearbox mounting studs tightened the adjuster has no function, the torque on the mounting studs maintains the position of the gearbox and therefore primary chain adjustment. Nipping the eye bolt nut in the tighten direction safe...

Re: gears two neutrls

Hi

The position of the selector drum is not critical, it can be set in any gear or neutral for assembly - but as a guide the photo below shows the selector in the neutral position.

Re: Portrait of your centre stand on swinger frames?

Hi

On the stand my rear wheel is around 2" off of the ground, your modified feet may be responsible for this discrepancy or the stops at the top of the legs, (adjacent to the pivots), may be worn on your stand and/or frame.

Re: Eye Bolt Huntmaster Gearbox

Hi That nut and eye bolt assembly moves the gearbox fore and aft to adjust the tension of the primary chain, make sure the secondary chain is slack during and adjusted after the primary is set. Before adjusting the primary chain you need to slacken the gearbox to plate attachments in order that the ...

Re: Huntmaster - Oil behind Timing Cover

I had drained the oil and put it back in the tank Hi I don't think you can drain the chamber surrounding the oil pump unless you remove the timing cover and my estimation is that it will hold around 150ml - 200ml. My engine had not run since 1995 and it had not wet sumped - you need to drain the su...
