Re: HANDLE BARS

Just measured 6 old pairs of bars and my new pair ,they go from 22.18 up to 22.37mm and my new ones are 22.28 I would say they were all 7/8inch bars although they vary in diameter , probably the quality of the chroming affects the diameter to , like Nev said the width of the straight in the centre i...

To annea...

Re: first and last ride

A few years ago I went to the Elefant Rally ,there was a lot of snow and ice I thought I had done very well on my outfit with winter tyres ,and as I came into the rally there was a queue of Italians on scooters with all their camping equipment front and back ,they had come across the Alps in terribl...

Re: first and last ride

I know exactly how you felt , my brother bought a Vespa SS180 back in 72 and I had to collect it , it was winter and raining and I rode through Reading, every turn I was sure I was going to drop it ,the little wheels and the front suspension were strange ,brakes were lethal ,it was quick off the mar...

Re: Frame number for 1958 Square Four

Hi , heres the link to Drags which confirms it as being a 1958 frame . After a bad experience a couple of years ago , if the number has a lot of paint on it ask to remove it down to bare metal to confirm its the original number or a restamp , also the engine number ,if it has had a replacement it wo...

Re: Doing my first restoration - couple first questions

I dont think the bracket has been welded on ,it looks like some kind of brazing alloy , if it is you could melt it off without overheating the frame tube/fitting , possibly with M.A.P gas , if Oxy/Acetylene is not available ,and then finished off with a file or a fine flap-wheel ,without removing an...
