I do use a blow torch and the solder I use is the hardest I could get , which is plumbers solder , the blow torch is very small and all seems to work ok . I just used to mangle the ends of the inner cable with pliers before solder . until now . I feel like taking my cables off and re doing them now ...

Guy, Nice job. You could always touch the bottom of the square counter-bore with a drill bit or countersink to give you a V at the bottom of the birds-nest. I haven't got a mill so I think I'll give Mick's method a go I have done as you suggested Alan and it is a better result . First in picture is...

Well that filled a couple of hours . Going in for a few beers now , but , it works perfectly see for yourself .

The ones above dont seem to have been milled spherical they look like they have been machined square , which is what im going to do , but no harm done if it is a failure . I'll picture the results .

my 51 square four is running rich . I have taken the solex off again and after checking all the parts I have found a crack in the emulsion tube from top to bottom . I thought the rich running was float height related but now I have found this I will need to renew it . I will probably be able to make...

Hi Peoples, Why ruin a rebuild by initially running with unsuitable lubricant? - you do NOT require any of the modern oils with "super slippery substances" - the motor will NOT bed in with these!!! - similarly do not assemble new parts with the "marvels of molybdenum disulphide"...
