Re: Black Ariel photo

Yes you're right Chris. The G should have a triangular toolbox but the customer may have wanted a back rack for practical reasons and ordered it like this? ?
Thanks Andy for a great photo, I am still looking for 28 rockers to go in the rocker box I got from you I have tried slovenko klub.

Re: Black Ariel photo

I think it is a 1930 model G. If you zoom right in you can see the "special "outline. Also it has the timing side breather in front of the tappet adjustment cover. Gear change gate on tank and chrome tank started in 1930. Straight through pipes should sound nice !

Re: 29 colt 250 bracket on gearbox for stand spring ?

Thanks Bertie, that looks simple enough. I was led to believe that the bracket was made of 1/4" steel bar.

29 colt 250 bracket on gearbox for stand spring ?

Hi, does anyone have a photo of an original spring mounting bracket that goes on the back of the gearbox ? also any idea of spring length E8/566 would be helpful. I have one of the excellent newly cast stands from Roland but would like to get its mounting as accurate as possible. I have looked in th...

Re: Again.... Jaap Fijma and Piet van Oosten

Also the 3 riders are all on 1929 250s. The upright gear change, 5 1/2" front brake, and timing side cover visible on the right hand bike all point to 29. Great photos, thank you for sharing them.

Re: Again.... Jaap Fijma and Piet van Oosten

The Ariel with sidecar is a 1930 model G. You can just make out 'special ' on the timing cover so the TT in the headlamp will be pre 2nd WW.

Re: Jaap Fijma racing headquarters in the 30's

The 1930 LF or LG in the foreground appears to have an oil tank where the dynamo goes and then the oil feed to the head goes from this pressurised?? tank. The downpipes look too close together to be anything bigger than 250cc. The other bike with the black tank also is still a 250 LF or LG 1930. The...

Yes Andy, that's a royal Enfield box, the one in the spares looks wrong too.

Re: ID this bike ?

Front spring is in compression, not tension. So I think it is 1927 . The frame is the first type not the later scaffold one.
