Re: Out on a boat trip...

Look at page 23 Cheval Dec 2018. Roger Gwynn and I took some photos of one attached to an Enfield at the Tonenburg rally

Re: HD wobble

I think I have mentioned this before but back in the fifties "tank slappers" were fairly commonplace. I don't know what caused them - speed was involved and as I remember, not necessarily cornering. It happened with girders and teles. It was a common subject for discussion. The perceived w...

Re: Survey of historic vehicles in the UK

In 1953 I was stationed in Bodmin in the RAF. The camp was at the top of a hill and at the bottom was a scrapyard very similar to the one pictured. We would purchase running bikes for £2 or £3 pounds, walk them up the hill under engine power and then race them around the outside of the parade ground...

As Dave suggests, join the AOMCC. I just looked - there is a fully illustrated parts list to download for 1947 singles in the library.

Re: FOR SALE : 100mph PA speedo

When I started riding in 1951, it was easy. A motor cyclist was someone whose transport was a motor cycle. We would improve our bikes if we could... e.g. perhaps get rid of those girders and replace with teles., fit dualseats etc. All the Ariels I have still reflect this attitude to some extent. I h...

Strange spares

The Club has been contacted by a guy who has a large box full of Ariel spares he wants to get rid of. Each has a works drawing with it. They look like some sort of pre production parts and they are probably all different. Dave Owen thinks they may be Pixie. Anyway can anyone positively identify them...

In 1951 I passed my test on 1935 Ariel 350. Could have done it on Vincent V twin If I had owned one.

Re: Double adult sidecar

I have done many thousands of miles on singles, often over the Alps and always with a pillion. Never used anything but a 23 tooth sprocket.

Uncle Bulgaria

Roger Gwynn has sent the following: "I have just heard from Chiel Fritz that Carlo Jusche aka Uncle Bulgaria died last week after an accident at home. I have asked Hans van der Linden, who was his friend of recent years, to let me have a copy of any obituary that is written. I don’t know of any...
