Re: VB maiden voyage (around the block)

What I actually did with the brakes was to basically 'scrape' the high spots on the shoes to show a reasonably even overall contact with the drum. This took quite a lot of time and careful work with a file but I figured it was worth miles of 'bedding in'. Anyway, I havent yet tried more careful adju...

Re: VB maiden voyage (around the block)

Thanks guys The brakes have modern bonded linings. To be honest I think the linings are thin, almost all the cableadjustment taken up even with the cam adjusters screwed up fairly tight. The carb is a 376 but all internals are new as per VB spec. I think I might fit a new Wassell, more interested in...

Re: Min-lathe 7 x 14.

I have a chinese lathe marketed by chester machine tools as a DB8, its solid enough but the cross slide bearing faces were awfull and took a lot of careful work with a scraper to get rid of machining ridges, but it was worth the effort cos it parts off and other difficult stuff quite well now. The m...

VB maiden voyage (around the block)

After 3 years of graft and at great expense, my basket case VB was launched onto the queens highway for the first time since ? with much fanfare, ( actually wifey saying dont go too fast, its a VB dear...) Good news is it handles OK, not so good news, it has a misfire at mid range revs under load no...

Re: DIY Blasting cabinet

I also made my own cabint and used a compressor from Machine Mart 3hp 14cfmin but to be honest I find it a dissapointment. Thick paint does not come off whatever medium, media just gets trapped in the paint surface without shifting it. Its quite usefull for removing rust but best use is glass beads ...

Re: Burman GB speedo drive

What an odd thought, riding a two wheeler without an engine, bizarre. why would you want to do that?

Thanks Joe, you have probably just saved me some cash, the wired ones are a lot cheaper.

Burman GB speedo drive

does anyone know what the drive ratio to the speedo is out of a GB box? I ask because I want to get on the road asap, and I have just discovered that the speedo that came with the bike has me doing an indicated 60mph at tickover on a VB. Unlikely that, I would have thought... so I need another speed...
