Re: speedometer type

Hi Chris

So far as I know the chronometric is correct for post war Ariels.

My 39 Velo MAC had a chronometric and they are correct for pre war Velos.

Re: Water in my gearbox

My Norton used to do this, primary too and the clutch parts were brown with rust as was the primary oil. I never thought much about it but probably should have. I've not noticed it on any of the Ariels.

Re: Handlebar end caps

Here are some photos of the end cap on my old 37 NH (I don't have it any more) which might give you some ideas. This is for the 'straight pull' twist grip. I don't remember what the left had side looked like.

Re: Primary chaincase disaster

I did email Roger Gwynn and he sent me the following reply... Niether Draganfly not the club have any plans to get these made at the moment but it is something that perhaps we should be looking at. nPattern making can now be done for about £500 by laser scanning and 3d printing. The casting is not e...

Re: Primary chaincase disaster

To help in getting you back on the road, the inner case is common to all 1936-53 singles, except WD models with the tin cases and 1939/40 250cc models. Any 1936-53 outer case (with the exceptions above) will also fit, although if you use a 1939 onward outer you will need a different clutch dome (of...

Re: Primary chaincase disaster

What are the numbers of the inner and outer chain cases? Maybe I can help. I have not taken off the inner case yet as I don't have a thin enough spanner to hold the crankshaft nut. The outer case has a casting number but it's hard to read. I have attached a photo below... outer primary casting numb...
