Re: Arrow/Leader front dampers.

Hi Stuart and David,

Very interesting information, that's the first time I've heard of the units being repaired. I have one in a spare pair of old forks which has lost some oil so I will have a go at repairing it when I've finished work on the Leader.

Re: leader fuel tap

Hello Ken,

I'm working on some now, I'l let you know when they are done. The bore of some of the older tap bodies are a bit rough and worn, this may also wear the cork and reduce their life.

Re: Arrow/Leader front dampers.

Hello Stuart, I've not heard of anyone taking the front dampers apart they're a sealed unit. There was someone who advertised in the OB Mart, they refilled the unit by drilling a hole in the side near the bottom but I've not seen the advert for some time. There was some talk re having some new ones ...

Re: leader fuel tap

Hello Ken, As Roger said the thread is 1/4 bsp 19 TPI. I'm just starting to make 2/3 taps Leader and Arrow, they should be ready in a few weeks time. I make a batch of components and then assemble the taps as needed. Re modern fuel. I 've not noticed a significant difference in the life of the corks...

Re: Safe max revs between gears...

Hello, Re the fast Ariel Arrow, from a distance it looks like a normal Sports Arrow with a slightly larger carb but in front of the rider is a large rev counter going up to 10,000 revs. The charges to the ports are all hidden inside the engine but Ron really knows what he is doing with two stroke tu...

Re: Safe max revs between gears...

Hello, Most of the literature on the Arrow and Leader say the engine with the 10-1 heads revs to 7000 rpm. I have rev counters on both the Leaders and the Arrow and 7000 seems the max the engine will go to but out of respect for the engines I normally set 6000 ish as a max figure. The tuned bike bel...

Re: Ariel Leader Tool Kit

Here's another one which escaped the round up last week, it fits the steering stem nut, so you have two to deal with the lock nut and the adjusting nut.
The smaller end is 3/4 '' wide.

Re: Ariel Leader Tool Kit

Hi, Here are the tools left from my original tool kit which came with the bike in 1965. I suspect some of them were not as good as the earlier tools but included in the later bikes to make up the kits when the production was coming to an end.I don't remember there being quite as many as shown in the...
