Just a bit more information, My Leader 1964/5 has the lipped brake plates and the anti squeal springs, so I assume the springs were a later addition. I've only had one instance where the brakes squealed and that was on the TLS conversion. I use a pair of strong pliers to get the spring out and back ...

Have you managed to get some workshop tools yet and what is the cost of the drags locating plate ?

I've made a few service tools over the years and have a locating plate available and will be making a tubular clutch tool in the next two weeks.

Hello, I get mine from the local bearing supplier in Sheffield. There's usually one in most towns/cities. Make sure you get viton ones for the mainshaft, to resist the ethanol in the fuel. BrianH.
