Re: old photos dont lie

The backing plate in the photo looks just mine when I brought my VHA home in 77. A few years later a friend gave me some Ariel parts included was another backing plate with that dull/flat look(Not chrome).
Maybe Ariel supplied both at the time???

Re: 20" Front Tyres

Hey Chris..I just don't like the feel of the tire. The K70 3.25x19 tires are great but the Avon 3.00 x20 just doesn't give me confidence .

Re: Plunger spring length

My 53 VHA with original fr & rear springs rode nice on smooth pavement but on bumps it would pogo . I installed side car springs in the rear and 54 later springs up front. Big Difference. I find the sidecar springs about right and I'm only 186lbs. With my Wife on the back, she is impressed on ho...

Re: Anstey Shimmy

I don't think I've gained weight Adrie..lol..I did find a loose right side axle nut, about 3/4 turn loose. That may have been the issue.Everything else seems fine.

Re: 30/31 engine crankcase valve on inner timing case

On my 31 I used with the check valve on top of the timing case for 3 years,The lower breather pipe was open and pointed towards the Primary chain. The issue with the top breather was the ball would stick making for a messy timing side. This check valve also allowed dirty air to be sucked into the mot...

Re: Anstey Shimmy

Never had a problem with my 53 VHA until a month or so ago. While coming to a stop i thought I had a flat tire. Pull over and check. Nope . I continue on . It tracks straight , handle s corners good..no more issue until I come to a stop. It's not so bad if I apply the front brake then the rear. I ha...
