The Hurricane is probably one of the Fibreglass replicas, not sure about the defender though.

That's not bad for a 75 year old pannier thats probably been overloaded many times with compo rations and ammo in it's service life.

Very nice Mike, the red and black Cyclone look is is the way to go in my own humble opinion plus you must gain 5mph with those heavyweight mudguards gone :) , I have a nice set of stainless obtained at the AGM for the pending 58 single build. Blimey! that station was closed about a year before your bike was born and the railway only soldiered on until your cyclone was about 11 years old, some old things certainly have longevity.

Ah the Mid Hants railway Alton to Alresford I know it well, Like the bike friendly Notice outside the cafe, looks like a welding or replacement job on that front chain-case, bit of bad luck but the Cyclone kept rolling.

As are my fingers must get some of those heated gloves does your charging system cope with it ok ?

It's not cold enough to stop an Ariel they carry on regardless, the sign may be blue but the Ariel is hot to trot, 1950,s Ariels were built for winter they love it ... You can't keep a good Cyclone down.
