Re: What is under the lump?

Would you say that this guard is not ready for paint unless seriously reworked or replaced?
Anyone know for sure how to repair it?

Jeff Hunter

Anyone been in contact fairly recently with Jeff at Hunter Engineering. Have sent a message but no return. Hoping he’s still making rubber bits.

Re: WTB timing cover

Makes sense that it would be a local small scale business because the big boys have a lot of overhead costs to cover. CNC-good to know. Thanks David

Re: Mainshaft repair

One of my work mates has done a lot of hard surfacing so we’ll check it out.

Re: Mainshaft repair

John, how about I TIG weld the surface using a weld positioner . That would be easy. Any suggestion for filler rod? Would likely use 1/16 filler rod.

Re: Mainshaft repair

Wow, so many options. Don’t know what you do or did for a living but must say your engineering and metallurgy knowledge is over the top. :D Thank you, John.

Re: Mainshaft repair

John, the area with the hammer marks in this picture is the surface. To be clear, no intention to rebuild this particular CP shaft as it has been replaced by a new one from club spares.
A friend has three BA shafts that are rust pitted on the same surface.

Re: Mainshaft repair

Sorry John, I wasn’t clear. I was referring to gearbox mainshafts.
