Hi Folks - Paul - we'll agree to differ on opinion of the Solex... As far as I'm concerned ditching the Solex is one of the top 3 mods I've done to my MK1 Sq... (others being to ditch the Lucas 6V 70W dynamo for the Iron Horse 12V 300W alternator & to ditch the pathetic excuse of a front brake(?...

Well folks - maybes we'll never know if phsammut ever got his Square running?... He responded with Chris's Q. as to whether the plugs were coming out wet - with "barely moist" & implied he had sprayed ether into the carb... Well - just a reminder for when you ain't got a spare ether ae...

Hi Folks - Gui - assuming all cylinders were rebored and new pistons & rings were fitted; - 1k km may not be sufficient time for the internals to have really bedded down... especially if (as many of these old machines are)... it has been "treated with kid gloves" during the running in....

Just BTW - when refurbished - suggest you fit an led equivalent available from http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/
... gives much superior illumination and less prone to breakage &/or failure.
