Thought I might find some of the tinware I need on eBay U.S. - all the parts listed here are just what I need but just take a look at the bids - already over $500 for the two sections of the rear mudguard and $177.50 for the headlamp nacelle still with 2 days to go!! http://www.ebay.com/sch/the-quad...

Thanks all - and David you were right, the bolt on is a 7". I failed the 'measure in the workshop and remember it all the way back to the house' test (i.e. over 10 seconds)

Cheers,
Bernie

Rear hub for sq4

I got two rear hubs in my '56 sq4 box of bits and am hoping that the first one shown below is right for the bike. Looking through the parts book it seems it should be a combined 8" sprocket and hub for that year but the bolt-on one shown in the second image is also 8" and looks compatible....

Thanks Marcus - I wonder if those are alternatives or two views of the same solution? The drags catalogue shows the tube over the guide but not the sleeve. With my valves assembled the flanged sleeve just about overlaps the top of the gude so I'm guessing that they're alternates and I have the sleev...

Sq4 MkII valve guides

I think the '56 sq4 that I've recently acquired was partly rebuilt about 30 years ago and then abandoned. I've found several mistakes in the assembly so far and am wondering if this is another. I've just stripped the head and expected to find the sleeved valve guides 225-37 and chamfered rockers as ...

Thanks again - I should have checked the ebay name before posting - it's actually pummy.8081 and I was looking at this listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-ARIEL-SQUARE-FOUR-PETROL-TANK-1000CC-BLACK-PAINTED-CHROME-PETROL-TANK-/370788909502?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item5654bdc1be Going to...

I've heard positive reports about the tanks supplied by ebay member 'pummie' but have no first hand experience.
I guess buying through a UK dealer and paying a premium might be the safer way to ensure getting a quality product.

Thanks Vincent - I'm hoping that Draganfly will be able to source a GRP nacelle - unless I'm fortunate enought to stumble over one! I got two tanks with the bike, one from an earlier sq4 with the gauges in the tank and the green one in the pic. Pretty sure it's wrong as there is no indent on the fro...

Many thanks all - Paul J has also confirmed it was black when it left the factory so that's how it will restored. I'm just applying for club membership so should be able to check out the literature soon.

Back to some Christmas fettlin' :-)

Cheers,
Bernie
