How about machining a new one out of some of that plastic type material that is used in place of rubber nowadays? Assuming you can find a nylon, urethane or similar that has enough 'give' to do the job.

Typically all of them Paul, not just Ariel. Just a thought, even though parts may have been catalogued as being chrome plated, surely after the war the supply and availability of chrome would have been perhaps unreliable?
