Re: Ariel Arrow starting

Hi again John This problem is certainly giving you a hard time, I have been following the wealth of advice from the forum with interest. My apologies if this has already been covered somewhere in the preceding 6 pages but I have a couple of simple ideas (simple is what I do best). Have you checked t...

Re: ignition coils

Interesting feedback on the current coil (non) quality, in my limited experience the original coils and condensers seem to just go on and on (so far) I appreciate it would look wrong but assume that the COP technology is inappropriate for our machines? Alternatively, does anyone know of a modern twi...

Hi Ken

Bob Newby make one for the Arrow and I'm sure they would help with anything you need to know.

Re: Splitting Arrow crankshafts

Hi Roy The one that I did recently was so tight I thought something would be damaged by the force I had to apply, well over 100ft lbs to break away the bolt tension and then about the same when it separates the taper. Don't use an Allen key unless it fully engages into the socket head or you may rui...

Re: Ariel Arrow starting

Hi John Fresh fuel and 32:1 should be fine, just best to avoid the idea of extra oil for running in until it's starting ok and back on the road. I know you have tried both with and without electronic ignition but that does not exclude the coincidence of a problem with both systems or on the unchange...

Re: Ariel Arrow starting

Hi John Could be seals, strange how it moves sides though. Have you tried starting, then pulling the HT lead off the non running side and holding it close to the plug just to prove the spark? Providing a large gap for the spark to jump increases the voltage and can provide benefits too. Have you tho...

Re: Crankshaft aligning tool and seals

Yes, that was the sad loss of a talented engineer who will be remembered. I only had the pleasure of speaking to him a couple of times and would have liked to have known him better. I assumed there may be a few of his TLS's in use by members and was curious for feedback but I'm sure it will be a big...

Re: Crankshaft aligning tool / TLS brake

Hi Roy The crank locking tool is out with Eddie at the moment but the crank back in now and I should be seeing him next week so just let me know when you're ready to start on yours and we can arrange a meet. I am in a hamlet just west of LB and will PM you an address and phone number for when you, l...

Re: Crankshaft aligning tool and seals

Hi Roy Do you need to buy a crank tool or just have the use of it? I am just south of MK and could loan you one. On the TLS subject, have you seen the Paul Webb drawings to modify our existing brake? Costs involved in the manufacture but so too is there in grafting on a Honda brake. I don't have one...

Re: new toy!!!

Hi Ken

If you stamped up a replacement plate and had the bike validated before applying to dvla that could work?
