Re: Idle W/NG

Simon My air screw looks identical to yours, here it is alongside a new one from Amal (new one at the bottom) Looking at the parts lists the screw appears to be the same part for all the pre monoblocs SDC13000.JPG The new one is slightly different on the taper measurements. Whilst the taper is the s...

Re: Oil filter quality

Kevin,
What was it fitted to?
Have you thought of cutting the filter element out and washing it through/ soaking it in some clean paraffin or petrol to see how much muck it has actually caught?

Re: Idle W/NG

I used a spare drain port screw and drilled a hole through it and soldered in a length of brass pipe. How does the height of your jet block nut compare with mine? Re your throttle stop screw being all the way in I have mearsured mine at 0.950 (base of threads to the end) so if yours is the same leng...

Re: Idle W/NG

Simon, have you checked the fuel level as suggested, this will tell you if the jet block nuts is correct and also the fuel level which, if wrong, will effect the idle.

Re: Idle W/NG

Simon, My WNG has a 276 but in all respects (other than choke size) it is the same as your 275. A few observations / comments that may help: My 276 jet block nut is 0.950 high (measured between the top and bottom faces) and does look a bit narrower overall than yours. IF yours is too long this would...

Re: Ariel Leader 1960

i have reported this to Ebay. There have been similar listings in the past where a piece of tube with a frame number stamped in has been offered along with a 'matching' log book. The suggestion in this case is that you could use this logbook (registration number) and the frame number to 'manufacture...

Re: 1942 RN WNG restoration-Updated 05/08 Plating Parts

Thanks Paul, I hope fellow WNG owners are finding the posts interesting I have been thinking about what to do with the 'plated' parts such as kickstart, gear lever, handlebar levers, pushrod tubes. The period photos of what appear to be 'newish' bikes show these had a 'matt' silver coloured finish i...
