Looks like it has a WNG frame (rear frame tubes angled downwards) and a WNG front hub (so poss longer WNG forks?) Interesting handlebar clamps and cable operated front brake lever fitted backwards.

Contract info shows it went to the Army.

Re the engine number some RAF engines were stamped RBH and some Navy NBH but not all, most were just stamped BH

BH prefix is a WNG engine. If you look at the WNG contracts info on Drags website it says it was supplied 11/8/42 to 29/10/42

Hermann, As you have an early timing case the ports behind the pump are different to the later type which has a milled slot between the feed port and the port leading to the quill/crankshaft. The elongated slot in the gasket shown in the your picture is for the later timing case. If your case looks ...

Johnny, When you put the screw through the hole in the outer case there should be about 1/4" to 5/16" protruding, this is the length of thread that screws into the inner case / crankcase etc. Once you have the screws it is pretty easy to tell which ones goes where.

Is it possible that when it wet sumped, whilst standing for 6 weeks, the oil level reached the idler pinion bush and over time worked its way into the chain cavity?

Re Vincent's post. Lovely original condition VG.... However, not being picky as I think it is a great bike but... as the subject of top girder links has been an ongoing theme on the forum for many years (and is usually picked up as being wrong) .... this bike appears to have the Chamfers at the top....
