Re: My 46 SQ4 is finished - or so I thought

Thank you guys. The flange in Pete's picture is definitely not there on mine. Do you have the dimensions of the flange so I know what I need to get made up and perhaps suggestions on how to fit it ?

Re: My 46 SQ4 is finished - or so I thought

Having spoken to Paul Jameson, he suggests that the hole that the mag pinion is passing through may be larger than normal. There has been a repair of the hole in the past and perhaps it could be the problem. The picture shows the engine when I got her and the hole with the repair is still the same, ...

Re: My 46 SQ4 is finished - or so I thought

I assume that what is happening is that the timing chain is lifting up oil and dumping it on the magneto pinion and it is then running along the shaft into the magdyno front housing where the magneto and dynamo pinions are splashing it around and it finds it way out between the dynamo and the mag ho...

My 46 SQ4 is finished - or so I thought

After 3 1/2 years of toil and frustration I finished my 48 rigid girder SQ4 a month ago and was ready for test runs and fettling the problems that arose. I have now had a few short rides and fixed a a number of small issues that have shown up but I am stuck on the latest. She has a rather large oil ...

Re: FOR SALE - Morgo Ariel Square Four Mk1 Rotary Oil Pump

Morgo do 1 pump for the SQ4 that had the plunger pump fitted. When you look at their web site they give you the option to select which timing cover gasket you want supplied, either the 11 hole one for the internal pressure relief or the 12 hole one for the external pressure relief. There is no gaske...

Re: SQ4 Oil Lines

Thanks guys. Simon, is yours one from Drags as it seems strange that the pipe to the connection is 3/16" and then to the gauge it drops down to 1/8" ?

Re: SQ4 Oil Lines

Sorry to jump back in on this thread but I need to ask about the pipe that runs from the oil pressure gauge to the join on the rocker feed pipe. As Simon discovered, the lower pipe (5172-37) supplied by Draganfly had the 1/8" pipe going to the guage and the 3/16" pipe to the rockers which ...

Re: Tight Gearbox

I had a similar problem when putting the clutch together on my SQ4. It turned out that the faces on the back of the clutch centre where the main shaft splines butt up to it had worn allowing the centre to sit a bit further back on the main shaft and therefore rubbing on the basket. A little skimming...
