I'm no expert, but the carbon fibre gasket has worked fine on my FH for over a year and 1500 miles.

The petrol tank on my FH tends to creep forward, under engine vibration, and eventually starts to chafe on the head stock. I suspect the fact that its an Indian made tank and tad bigger all round exacerbates to problem. The portion at the front is a fairly snug fit around the head-stock, 1/4" e...

The first thing I,d check is the frame for straightness ( not like wot I did !). I would recommend stainless every time, especially wheels as they rust from the inside ( especially being near the sea as you are). Only my AJS has 12v and I certainly miss it on the Huntmaster, I do a fair bit of night...

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like the bearing is very worn. Like any bearing, there shouldn't be any discernable play.

Thanks chaps, thats re-assuring. I must admit though the very warm weather is probably the main reason for getting a bit hot ( me included ). I can remember some of my old cars running notieably warmer on hot days, so only to be expected with an air cooled bike motor.
