Re: Tyre advice please

K70 for a period look and good grip. I use them on my AJS single. The Avon Roadriders are very good but do seem better suited to the later models for looks and are a well tried and tested modern tyre for peace of mind when going just that little bit quicker on my G12!

Re: Head Steady Clamps Huntmaster

Got mine from Drags last year and the hole centres were wrong. They suggested I elongate the holes to suit!! Which, in my mind would render them useless. I sent them back and made some from 1/2" stainless tube.

Re: best remedy-lighting

Hi Marcus, thanks, but I'm well aware of the belt conversion. Ted has already passed the dynamo as fit ( fitted new bearings though). I've fitted an AGM battery ( 13AH) which I believe has sorted the initial problem, plus the old, but not very old, battery wasn't much good, didn't hold a charge for ...

Re: 1936 Red Hunter?

I have to agree with Dick, a very slight difference btn the alignment of the damper knob and the tank instrument ( possibly because the tank is slightly misaligned ) would give the appearance of frame distortion. On closer looking, I suggest that the tank may have been aligned with the saddle for ap...

Re: New Member and New Bike.

Check that the barrel has not rusted through from the outside-can happen, mine has. You need to remove the brake plate anchor arm from the fork to remove the wheel with the brake plate attached. Be aware that the anchor arm is slightly cranked to accommodate the difference btn plate and the fork not...

Re: GB gearbox question

Try fitting a temporary pointer to the end of the selector shaft as this will confirm you are getting all gears. There should only be minimal end float on the selector shaft otherwise gear selection can be hampered to say the least. Test the end float by pulling and pushing the shaft with some plier...

Re: Shock absorber spring

Thats the same as what came with my basket case Huntmaster. Took me some time to work out what the awful clunk was when kicking the bike over. It was the wrong spring ( far too weak and lobes peaking out ) new one is the same as A10 , a bit shorter than the above but only 3 coils and heavier round g...

Re: best remedy-lighting

Thanks for all the replies. I've taken the plunge and bought an AGM 13AH battery. I do quite a bit of riding in the dark and the narrow roads I tend to use a lot have very sharp bends etc. so early warning of their approach is a must although I don't ride that quick. I suspect the LED bulbs may be b...

Re: best remedy-lighting

Thanks for that Simon, and can I presume, by the timing of your last reply, you are not a Strictly come dancing fan either. ps. I'm envious of your seemingly easy access to Cromer and N.Norfolk, what beautiful biking country. I had a cottage at Southrepps for a while but never got round to taking a ...
