What you could do .... Ride and see where the pinking starts. Retard the lever to where it stops and leave it there. Return home and check the timing without moving the lever - you won't have to take off the timing cover again - just remove the plug and see where the points open with your stick down...

All I can tell you is that the 350 WNG engine started with engine number BH. It's pretty much the standard ariel 350 engine; late thirties through to mid-50's when it got an alloy head. Is it me or do these modern little lead acid batteries not last long ? That's what puts me off coil ignition on old bikes. They are pretty tiny though (to get into the rubber battery box). I have a mate with a trade account and I awlays buy a few as I lose at least one a year ... despite having a 6v...

I have been pricing up the Ferry to Denmark. It is not cheap ... Harwich to Esbjerg I expect that I am not the only one .... has anyone found anything more competitive .. two bikes/two riders/one cabin .. FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY earth pounds.... There is the option of going into Holland and riding up...

My point is that people always have comment on the not original parts and forget the whole picture of a lovely bike. I am sure that Ardie does not meant to be annoying, but the same happened to me 3 years ago with my G-special on the annual. I have worked 3 years on it and made several parts myself...
