Re: Need Sq 4 MK II Cylinder Block

Everyone has been asking for pictures of the cylinder block. I have taken a careful second look, and am coming to the opinion (with input from others) that the damage to those few aluminum lips around the lower sleeves is not of great concern, and that perhaps with a new liner (sleeve) to replace th...

Need Sq 4 MK II Cylinder Block

As is usually the case with me, I ignored warnings about cleaning oil passageways, and have suffered the consequences. One rod let go, destroying its accompanying piston, and knocked a few divots out of one of the cylinder liners and surrounding cast aluminum supports. I don't see it being repairabl...

Re: Tank Repair

I had multiple pinholes in my tank. Repaired it with US tank sealer from POR15 A US Product

Works well if you follow instructions precisely (and no soldering welding involved

Re: Orig. Style ammeter with ignition light?

Hey Simon, Mine is not in horrible condition. The outer bezel chrome has worn away, exposing the copper (I assume) plating below. I'll post a picture soon. The face of the gauge is in nice condition, but there is some sort of visual obstruction on the glass (underneath, of course). If I thought I co...

Orig. Style ammeter with ignition light?

The ammeter on my Mark II appears to be original and works great It has an integrated ignition light in the face of the instrument The only problem is that physically the Gage is a little crusty and I would like to replace with new So far I have only been able to find new ammeter without the provisi...

Sq 4 - Tracking down an oil leak

I'm having a blast with my recently acquired '53 MK II Sq 4. It seems to be pretty much dialed in.. starts on 2nd kick every time, and idles and runs perfectly through the RPM range. Only issue is I have a persistent oil leak every time I ride it. In the interest of full disclosure, I did have the u...

Re: Sq 4 Oil Filter Fitment

Thanks Simon,
Just what I needed.
did you have to drill the mounting holes for the filter bracket, or are they already in the frame?

Sq 4 Oil Filter Fitment

I purchased an oil filter kit from Dragan for my '53 Sq 4 MK II. It finally arrived (standard shipping from UK to US seems to be a good 3 weeks or more), and looks to be a nicely engineered unit, but not a shred of instruction on how/where to install. Of course, this can't be rocket science, but I'd...

Re: Sq 4 Mk II Solex carb issues resolved

Uh.. gulp.. this is a bit embarrassing, and thanks to all of you for your expert opinion. Today, I removed my carb and disassembled, cleaning everything carefully and checking my float for leaks, etc. Before reinstalling, since I had the tank off, I thought perhaps I should double check the gasket b...
