Re: need air cleaner rubber hose for Solex

Here's a picture of mine. It is 'serviceable' but just hoped to find a new or new-ish one to go along with the other spruce-up I am doing on the old gal. Of course, it is hardly visible from outside anyway?

need air cleaner rubber hose for Solex

Is there any source for the original air cleaner-to-solex carb rubber hose (1953 MK II Sq 4.. possibly others). Mine is surely original and barely hanging together. I don't see it listed on Dragan.

Advice sought - Sq 4 MK II tyres and wheel bearings

Still putting my '53 Mk II back together after its angry munching of a connecting rod and piston. Now that the engine parts are at the machinist, I can devote myself to other external issues. 1) my tire(s) tread look new, but they are certainly 10-15 years old and I am starting to see a bit of check...

Sq 4 mkii piston compression ratio

Dragan's pistons are back ordered so I am ordering from JP in Australia

They offer two different compression ratio.. roughly 6.0 or 7.2 (just going by memory from their catalog)

Need opinion on which choice to make

Re: sq4 MK II piston clearance

Thanks Simon.. I will beg to differ with you in some respect. My experience, at least with car engines, is that a wise machinist will carefully measure each piston, and then prepare the cylinder bore accordingly. There are almost always some differences in piston diameters, even if bought in a set. ...

sq4 MK II piston clearance

I am installing a set of new pistons from Draganfly.. they do not have the expansion slots cut in the side. Someone suggested this type of piston requires greater piston-to-cylinder clearance.

Do anyone have the recommended clearance specs for these pistons?

Re: Adding an oil pressure gauge.. Sq 4 mk ii

I have been in communication with the guy from whom I previously purchased a very nice gauge kit for my Norton. I have had a new oil feed stud (screws into the timing case) sent to him from Dragan, and he is going to use that as a guide have new longer studs machined that can accommodate a double &q...

SQ 4 piston advice needed

When my MK II SQ 4 crankshaft decided to part ways with one connecting rod, the rod managed to reduce the associated piston to bits of rubble. The P.O. claims to have only ridden this bike 2,000 miles since he "overhauled" the engine back in the mid-90's. He even provided a DraganFly invoi...

Re: Square 4 MK II petrol tank fitment

Yes, it's definitely you get what you pay for, but at a net $50 after my complaints, hopefully I can bring mine to life. Thankfully I have a pretty fully equipped hobby shop.. large milling machine, MIG and TIG welders, bead blaster, etc., so I am just going to cut all the mounting tabs off the tank...

Re: Tank Repair

Simon, A caveat re cleaning up the outside of a tank hole... I used a highly touted prep from POR-15 specifically made for gas tanks. When it dried inside, it looked very durable and, yes, did stop all 4 leaks. However, then I went to polish the outside of the tank, and when I re-installed it and fi...
