Hi Adrie, I just popped outside to the garage and measured up and the guard that I have seems to be in this ball park, so I think it's pretty much o.k. Next task is to make some stays, which shouldn't be too difficult, even if they are not exact replicas., they can be changed out when something bett...

Width of rear guard

Can anyone help?
Could someone give me the approximate cross sectional dimentions of the rear guard fitted to rigid singles from 1951 onwards (this is the non hinged type with the later lifting handle)?

Thanks,

Keith

John, Thanks everso!! This makes it crystal clear. My machine had been clearly bodged because even though as I explained a lot of the tin ware got lost (thrown out I think) the chain guard certainly did not fix to the stay. Fortunately I have been able to source accurate replacements for everything ...

I bought the pipe and silencer for my VH in 1978. If you look under members bikes (1950 VH) you'sll see that they are still there after all these years. If the quality is still the same then they are the 'dog's B******'!

My 1950 VH

This is my bike, OPB19 or Betsy after 33 years of neglect. [I rode her regularly from 1975 'till 1978 when I went abroad for six years. It was during this time that she was abandoned. I have had the frame powder coated and the only things I'm missing are the correct rear mudguard and stays. Unfortua...

Hi Brenton and John!! Brenton thanks for the pictures!! I am at the moment waiting for the man who makes the stays and guards for Draganfly to make some more beacuse they have been out of stock for a while now. I got a later type rear mudguard at the AOMCC rally but don't know how true it is to the ...

Re: Fitting chain guards to rigid VH

Hi Brenton, This is interesting. My machine was not original when I got it (in 1975) and I'm trying to get it back to original spec, body work wise having completely stripped it and having had the frame pwder coated. The chain guard does not have any bracket, so I guess I'll have to make one when I ...

Fitting chain guards to rigid VH

Hi, Could anyone with a rigid VH (mine's 1950) send me a pic showing how the rear chain guard is fixed. I know there is one point on the primary chain case, but the other? Also, I've heard mention of a rear brake stop. Having never had one, where do they go? Of the parts list and other goodies I've ...

Vincent,
I am very interested to know how you get on.

I ordered a speedo from a company in India nd it all went horribly wrong. Mainly due to lack of communication, I think. I didnlt lose any money but it was just upsetting for all concerned.
