Hi!
Can anyone recommend a wheel builder in the Hampshire area? If not Berkshire, Surrey, Wiltshire?

I think there was a comment in the penultimate issue of Cheval. Apparantly not bad but one of the mounting plates was misaligned. I have also heard that sometimes the chrome is straight onto metal (not a metalic base such as copper or whatever it is that is used). Myself I have been tempted, but bea...

Tyres

Hi there Arielists, I am looking for some advice hopefully based upon practical experience. The tyres on my bike are at least thirty six years old and although thet reads are fine they must be replaced. The machine is a 1950 VH with the larger thinner front wheel. The rear wheel has a dulop tyre and...

Re: Identification of Cam shafts and followers

Hi Nev, This is interesting. I have completey stripped down my machine and frankly I might as well go the extra mile considering waht I have spent (this is not meant as a complaint) since I hope to have a machine that if looked after will see me out............. I am doing some minor mods to teh mac...

Re: Identification of Cam shafts and followers

Hi Nev, Thanks for this. It pretty much corroborates what I have peiced together else where (I spoke to Roger at Draganfly) and I think would be good to put on the knowledeg base. Clearly a lot of things are interchangeable since the basic design changed very little over the years but certain combin...

Identification of Cam shafts and followers

Can anyone assist? I have looked on the knowledge base and not found what I need. So here goes....... Concerning single cyliner engines with a cast iron head and barrel and rocker boxes (ie. late 1930 thru early 1950's), I understand that around 1951 the CAM wheel contour was changed. When I changed...

Re: Rocker box gaskets (singles)

This is very interesting because I was going to ask about this on some future occasion. I recall that when I last used my Ariel (back in the late 70's when it was my main form of transport) try as I might I could never stop the rocker boxes from weeping. I resorted to rubbing down the boxes using va...

Differentiating between gearboxes

Hi!! Can anyone help? Is there anyway of establishing if I have the correct box fitted to my machine which is a 1950 rigid VH. On the face of things the box appears correct because it is a a grease filled model and I thought it to be a BA. However when studying Draganflys section on gearbox casings ...
