Re: KH/KG Front Engine plate

I have the pressed ones which I will measure, but I actually made some flat plates so I could put a side car on. If you are not worried about originality, I think the flat plates work fine, and were easy to make. Anyway I can give more info about both next week. Here's a pic of the flat ones. You wo...

Re: KH/KG Front Engine plate

Hi Scott, I can take pics and measurements of 1948 front engine plates. I think they are the same parts for 1950. However I will not be back home to do it until mid next week.

Re: Battery Voltage Monitor

Mine is on a Sq4, wired in circuit after the ignition key. So it is only on when the ignition is on. Not sure what you would do on a magneto bike, probably just pull one spade off the back of the meter when not in use. I bought a very cheap ebay one, not expecting it to last, just long enough to be ...

Re: Battery Voltage Monitor

I bought a Paul Goff one. I made up a mounting plate for the fork top nut. The idea was to use it until I had confidence in the charging system, then remove it. It helped me work out that I had a voltage regulation problem. The volt meter was installed after, as a diagnostic, because the led kept fl...

Re: Air filter on a Solex carb?

solex air inlet.jpg This is fitted to my solex in place of the bell, it has a pancake type filter on it. Mine is a '51 so it wouldn't originally have had the colonial filter. The pipe has a hose connected to a fitting on the near side rocker box. I haven't done enough miles to say or compare if it ...

Re: which carb?

From the parts book for 1954 - NH = 276AZ/IJ.
You should be able to find a second hand one, or build one up out of parts, but here's where you might buy a new one.

Re: Solex AHD26 carb jets

The part appears to be part number 51274 "air bleed" Solex part numbers.pdf For some reason my carb had a 1.5 needle and seat, it should be a 2.0. I bought rebuild kit 900.SK26 from this business (located in Australia): https://classiccarbs.com.au/Classic-Carburettors/Carburettor-Overhaul-...

Re: Fire prevention

Yes metal chop saws spread a lot of sparks. Mine is portable and I move it onto the lawn to cut. As you're from the oil and gas and gas sector, what do they do for spark containment on the job? A leather tent and fire watcher? Here's an idea, could you train the dog? Just kidding. I once had a borde...

Fire prevention

I have been reading Paul's Healey story and I am wondering if any members have any fire prevention in their garage? I usually remove the battery fuse from the bikes. I keep the fuel cans in another place away from the bikes. I am pretty careful when welding and grinding, I have a fire blanket hangin...
