Re: H J Pugh Auction - 17th Feb

Think of all the treasure hidden there! At their last auction I bought a large box of bits on the strength that it had a (very rusty) toolbox for my 1952 Norton. Cost me £70. When I got it home and unpacked it, I found lots of goodies. So far I have sold some for £175 on ebay and currently have a B...

Re: bikes excempt from mot a good idea?

All very true. And the case "quoted" in the article was probably in someone's imagination. We hear endless tales about how insurance companies won't pay out because we have the wrong grease in our head bearings, have added an AOMCC sticker etc etc. But I have yet to see an authenticated ca...

Re: Is my Ariel under insured ?

The differences in premium for different values with Peter James are minimal unless we're talking about Brough Superiors and the like.

Re: bikes excempt from mot a good idea?

I've checked with my insurers (PJ) and they confirm that exempt bikes do not need a "voluntary" one (which in any case has no legal standing as I understand it).

Re: Is my Ariel under insured ?

Do you know he actually got £9,200 for it? The Sunbeam I had from him was originally at £7,000 but I paid £5,000.

And he is not known for under-pricing his bikes. Having said that, £7,000 would not be unreasonable.

Re: Re: Daily Fixing and Riding Diary on a mainly Ariel 2018

I must admit the C15 I had in the 70s was one of the worst bikes I ever had (although there is strong competition for the title).......

Re: oil seal tool

Make sure you wrap the tape so that the seal rides easily over the edges (ie start the wrap from the inner end).

Re: Insurance

I've been with PJ for years for (mostly) "classics". I also managed to include a modern (well 8 years or so old) bike on the same policy at one time although I know that PJ's attitude seems to change depending on who you speak to..... I also used Bennetts for a couple of years for the mode...
