Re: Clutch slips, so can't start the bike. 500 Red Hunter

I had the same thing recently as I rebuilt my NH. I couldn‘t exactly pin point where the trouble was, but I believe the push rod was catching somewhere or the adjuster on the outer case cover wasn‘t set properly. After assembling and disassembling the whole thing 4 or five times and going through al...

Re: 1954 NH - almost done!

Thanks!

I couldn‘t find a right 276 in acceptable condition and reasonable price, so went for a monobloc. Still waiting for some gaskets for reassembly.

I‘m very curious to see how she goes and how it compares to my Sq4.

1954 NH - almost done!

Hi chaps, Very happy today. My Red Hunter is almost finished, mainly just have to get the petrol tank painted, but waiting for warmer weather. Today I fired up the engine for the first time. I believe the last time this engine ran was sometime in the early 1970‘s. I still have the wrong carburetter ...

Re: 1957 Red Hunter Side Stand

Here are some pics of mine (1954 NH). It suffered a rough repair at some time in it‘s life and I have no idea if it‘s original or not. But it does work and doesn‘t hit anything. I‘m not sure I would trust it very much as it doesn‘t seem to be very stable when extended. The center stand does work qui...

Re: Sq4 Mk1 rocker issues

Hi John, I had a similar problem, but on mine I just didn’t have any gap between the rocker and the valve. There’s a thread on it if you look it up. Both my head and barrel had been skimmed to the fins. Solved with another head... Another possibility I considered at the time, but never tried, was to...

Re: Do not disturb !

I once bought a few parts from them. Didn’t really like dealing with them and probably will never go to them again. Very arrogant. Oh well, I suppose they must be making a very good business and can afford to send customers away.

Re: Dynamo rotations - they can be different !!

I just brought the dynamo on my NH back to life last week. As Will said, swap the field coil leads to get it spinning in the other direction and repolarise it. However, one more pointer. On mine, after doing all that, cleaning years of grease, oil and filth after years of use and sitting about, it s...

Re: Sq4 Breather

I did try this once. Thought it was a brilliant idea, as my crankcase breather was spewing out a lot of oil.

The result was it pressurized the tank and lots of oil came out through the cap and made a big mess. And left me calling lots of names to myself for such a stupid idea.
