Re: Further carburation questions...

As a point of interest, the very early production Leaders had a flat top emulsion tube fitted and a different size main jet to suit, Ariel did change to the angled emulsion tube that I've been informed are used on a 2 Stroke engine, that said, the 389 monobloc carb that is fitted to the Salt Arrow P...

Re: Ariel Arrow Racer/Parade/Sprint bike update

Hi David, Thank you for the messages and photographs relating to your build of the Racer/Sprinter, nice to see it taking shape. Regarding the twisted swinging arm, checking for such twists is a procedure I will carry out on every swinging arm now since finding the one on my Production Arrow racer wa...

Re: Spigot whashers

Hi David,
I've had a rummage around in the shed today and found some washers for the rubbers, are these the spigot washers you are looking for?, please see attached photograph. A full set for front and rear suspension units, they will need cleaning up.

Re: Early birthday present

Happy Birthday, a very nice present. 'WA' is a Sheffield registration number. Looking on the DVLA Website and carrying out a Vehicle Enquiry the Leader is shown as having a Date of Registration of September 1960, at that time all Leaders and Arrow were painted in the Light Admiralty Grey colour with...

Re: Swinging arm spindle

Hi Alan,
Had that happen on the engine of my Sports Arrow, got a friend to fit a Helicoil that he told me was 1/2" UNC 13 TPI and its been fine since.

I had to totally strip out the engine down to a bare crankcase to make it easier for him to handle a lighter casing.

Re: Ariel Arrow Exhaust expansion pipes

Hi Dennis, I can give you two contacts to have an expansion chamber exhaust system made for your Arrow. 1. Ron Phillips of Fahron Engineering. I spoke to Ron this morning and confirmed his welder can make a suitable expansion chamber exhaust for your Arrow as long as you are not in a hurry for it to...
