lol nev , havent heard that one before but i suppose i shouldve because it sounds as old as the 'vickers' bike' joke lol back to spontaneous combustion... damp cotton rags and damp iron filings will also do it, there was a fire at a footy club in oz somewhere because lots of players dumped their dam...

cool , thanks mate, ill definitely try those and a WARNING to u and everyone else...............steel wool can spontaneously combust when its damp and burns with an intense heat.... so get it the &@$& out of your shed, or more importantly, away from your ariel...... thats not a joke, i found...

vince... when u say fine wire brush pads , do u mean steel wool pads?& r the ones with soap in them better?

thanks Brian, y, the diy soda blasting is pretty slow but its not too bad. glad i didnt try wheel cleaner then! i might see what deoxidine does in an inconspicuous area, that stuff is basically the active part of all rust converters .hopefully i wont be posting a picture of a dissolved crankcase for...

hi all, just wondered.... i bought a cheap sandblaster gun and some soda blasting medium and it works quite well exept the very deep pits become even more visible afterwards because the blasting lightens the colour a bit compared to polishing..... is there a safe acid cleaner or something that will ...

cool, thanks nev. yeah the paint went on really well, but it dries to that normal orange peel that 2 pac has, i might just try 2000 grit and then compound it by hand avoiding the edges altogether. engine plates nearly ready for colour, then i can bolt the engine in and try starting it... cant wait !
