Re: Running without lights

If someone runs into the back of you it's their fault, in law, and there's no arguing about it. I speak as someone who's been rear-ended several times although only once on a bike (the BM). (And I'm not suggesting that it isn't something to not be bothered about even if it isn't going to be your fau...

Re: Running without lights

In the discussion about brake lights I'd like to note that I'm not entirely comfortable having a brake light that's only linked to the rear brake...

Re: Jammed Kickstart

Dave:
I've got one that very occasionally does that, a quick firm kick (with the clutch in) frees it.

Re: NH350 1947 ????

Frame KS 1198 Engine AP943 G'box G6 H46 Engine, gearbox and maybe forks are OK for the year but all in that Ariel twin frame. IMHO, unless the overstamping has been really badly done there's no way you'll establish the original identity of the frame and it's clearly wrong for the engine/gearbox. It ...

Re: Front wheel spindle wear.

I've had that problem, repeatedly. It seems to have stopped since I've been using brand-new cadmium plated spindles that are a light drive fit. They generally manage a couple of removals before the plating wears off ('cos cadmium ain't the best for that sort of thing). I've bought a copper-plating k...

Re: Trying to trace owner of a Leader

Mike: Any chance you can get them to send you copies of the records? It would be useful to get the engine number (which should be on the records as well as the VIN) to see what Salford give for that - as we know that the engine and VIN numbers would have been identical when it left the factory. Poss...

Re: 1957 350cc Red Hunter

Wot Will said, John! There's no harm in checking the head bolts (and rocker boxes) 'just in case' but it's quite likely to be the push rod seals - in my experience modern ones often don't last long in service (Drags now even advise cutting their new ones down slightly, if left 'full height' they sta...

Re: Trying to trace owner of a Leader

Hi Mike That VIN you've been given has been mis-interpreted (not difficult if it's in someone's handwriting although in some cases the machine number is mis-read when the records are created). It should be a B at the end, not 8 (that could mean that some other numerals have been mis-read also). Howe...
