Re: Huntmaster FH 1957 Swingarm

Having had a discussions with Drags, their FERCs are steel - and they've corrected the web page that said they were still fibreglass. Bunners - the top cover is what Simes (Simon H) has on his Huntmaster - he's just posted a link to his collection of parts photos on another thread in the forum so I ...

Re: 1959 Ariel VH colour scheme

Bob: There was a red/black colour option in the late '50s, I think the mudguards and nacelle were black and the tank was red with a black panel and a white line separating the two colours. The forum has a few pictures of bikes with the red/black tank scheme - one of them is David Anderson's '57 VH o...

Re: Halite washers

Steve - where did you get those valve-springs from? (I quite fancy a pair of blue ones!)

On the subject of Hallite does anyone know where (or if) it's possible to get it in sheets? (I've used all mine up and I can't find anyone who supplies anything other than cork or paper.)

Re: Huntmaster FH 1957 Swingarm

Roger - hens teeth are more common than original Ariel fully-enclosed rear chaincases (FERC). The Drags ones are fibreglass, the last metal one (complete) I saw (a few years ago) was being offered for £500; the guy was adamant about his price at the time, he hasn't got it any more so maybe he got th...

Re: Shortstroke 500 Scrambler, Slow Build

I found an article in Jan 2010 Cheval, in turn a reprint of an article in Motorcycle Sport, Jan 1964. It's about a sidecar scrambler successfully using an Ariel single modified to 600cc. I thought it might be appropriate to add a summary of the engine mods to this thread. -pre-war Red Hunter steel f...

Re: Armstrong shocks

Simon - if you've finished with getting the rust off it might be worth soaking the units in paraffin for a while, dry grease can bind things up as much as anything else... (However I'd wholeheartedly agree with everyone else about using something better on the back if you're interested in the ride!)...

Re: kickstart and gear lever needed for 51 4g

I think Feked have got the same kick-start as Drags but quite a lot cheaper.
