Oil tank looks very like the 6-pint one on my 51 VH (except for maybe a bigger filler and a funny cap - is that what you were getting at Adrie?); '50 frame and '49 engine could be 'matching' for the bike, nice headlight with what looks to be a complete underslung pilot light unit, mudguards look goo...

Brenton - phew, I'm glad that lift figure was a typo it's tricky enough getting the details agreed with these! For general info, Joy Engineering are still around, might be in Bishops Stortford rather than Ware, but that might be an issue for the locals. I was talking to Mr Joy the other day and I've...

Brenton - I've got a couple of sources for 0.41 (10.5mm) for lift on the HS Mk3 cam - but you've got something for 0.43 ??

Brenton (or David) - are you using the usual huge tappet clearances for those timing graphs ? (And Brenton from your posts on pistons you might be getting rather less blow-by and crankcase pressure with the new sleeve? :) ) The Mk1 cam has .450 lift, the mk3 cam .410 (info from Paul Jameson's articl...

There are several articles in the knowledge base about HS cams, they seem to be about use in a 500 but the consensus is that the Mk3 profile is better for road use and the Mk1 profile is approaching 'full race: this seems to be born out by comments about length and diameter of exhaust pipe - which a...

??????????????????????????????? Can't see how either would work unless done really carefully and cleverly. But why go to all the trouble? I think I remember my rocker spindles being 'blind' on the spark-plug side, so oil wouldn;t be able to get through that way. Unless I've misunderstood Paul's desc...

Some of the guys with BSA A10 Rocket/Super Rocket engines have got over the problem of barrel weakness after sleeving by brazing ithe top and bottom of the sleeves into the barrels, which allows the sleeve to take some of the stress and apparently isn't too difficult to do.

You can put standard 1" (shaft diameter) shims behind the thicker spacers and the flywheels - Drags sell 'em.

(I'd not be surprised at the clearance changing if mains/big end have been replaced)
