The Club's got some excellent floats to help you avoid that, Tony ;) :D

Re: Sticking exhaust valve?

From my experience with these a chap of your kaliber (to coin a phrase) won't need telling if he's reached 'valve bounce'.
Personally I'd first suspect a naff end-cap. I've seen what are probably original ones happily sitting on top of valves that have had really big pick-up marks on them.

Robert:
I'm not understanding what you're trying to do.
By 'outer cage' are you referring to the bearing outer race ?
Is it a parallel fit crankpin or a taper fit crankpin?
Are you intending to bore taper pin flywheels to take a parallel pin big end?

Re: Oil Leaks - Singles

Volker - mine have never disintegrated, broken up or deteriorated in any way, but they are original Ariel, whatever they are!
(And I don't think I go out of my way to replace them, unless I'm taking a magneto off, which doesn't happen that often - I usually leave then to 'get on with it' :D )

Re: Oil Leaks - Singles

I picked up quite a few original Ariel singles gasket sets back in the 1970s. They've all got a very rigid paper washer that I've always assumed to be (and used as) the one that goes behind the mag sprocket, on the armature shaft. The one I'm just measuring is 1.110" OD , 0.462" ID and 0.0...

Not just at the moment thanks Jørgen - too many other priorities.
(I'll make a note for future reference though!)
