Re: Clutch basket rubs on inside top of dome

Ray: Looking carefully at your photos, in the one of the upper part of the basket it does seem to also be quite close to the back of the chaincase, so primary chain length might be the issue. However there might also be a littler bit of slack around the holes at the front - possibly you could also p...

Re: Clutch basket rubs on inside top of dome

I had a '53 plunger NH where there was a 1/8 gap between the rear/bottom chaincase lug and the frame where it bolts up. I used to put a couple of washers into the gap but until I started doing that the chaincase was being pulled tight against the frame - which also moves all the 'outside' covers sli...

Re: Anyone running a Concentric on a 350?

Dunno what else to suggest - I can only think that there's something wrong with something in the carb - blocked pilot system or maybe wrong needle (I've mis-counted the number of grooves before now) - or maybe it's not a 4-stroke carb. However it seems like it's new, probably supplied to your spec a...

Re: What paint for iron cylinders?

Walter - thanks, that is very interesting.
I've been agonising about how good an idea it was to get my iron VH barrel and head powder coated many years ago.
I'm not sure I can get my head around all aspects of the debate tho' !

Re: Anyone running a Concentric on a 350?

Unless you've got a very early carb you probably ought to remove that pilot jet - sorry! Here's an extract from the Amal web site (when I made a note of it, it was part of the tech details) "Pilot Jets When first introduced all carburetters were fitted with a detachable pilot jet screwed into a...

Oooooooo - no I'm not going to paint my mudguards red after all I'm going to fit ally ones! :D
(And some of my mudguards are from Erik as well!)

Very nice, I do like that later styling with an alloy-head engine.

Re: Anyone running a Concentric on a 350?

I've recently discussed the spec for a concentric for the FH with someone at Burlen/Amal and got the advice that as a general rule the main jet for a concentric would be 20% smaller than the monobloc spec. That would seem to be born out by John's note above.

A couple of Steve's posts about fitting an oil filter to a Huntmaster (I've been tracking them for my own purposes...)
