Re: Sticking exhaust valve?

Exhaust valve has nipped in the guide, stem cup has jumped off end of valve stem, and got stuck between a rock and a hard place, bits of it was sitting in front of the valve spring. Seems it has cracked on top of the stem, as there are small dents in the stem end. No sign of contact between valve an...

Re: Sticking exhaust valve?

I found my sheet with the measurments made on the guides and valves. On the exhaust valve the guide was measuring 0,346" at bottom and top and 0,344" in the middle part. The valve was new, and measuring 0,341" That makes a clearence of 0,003" in the tightest part of the guide, an...

Re: Sticking exhaust valve?

Yes, could be - the oil pressure to the rockers is set at 10psi warm - maybe I should rise it a bit.

Sticking exhaust valve?

My Ariel got a hickup today. I was riding a little spirited at 60-65 mph, then going up a hill at 55-60, and suddenly it lost power and made sneezes and bangs in both carb and exhaust, accompanied by a clattering noise from the valves. It didn't stop, and responded to throttle, but the clattering no...

Re: Vid on Indian girder forks

....are the castings made of a satisfactory material, such as a nodular iron ,rather than plain cast iron?......Original Webbs are malleablised iron castings ,a process now obsoleted by the doped irons. Probably not, when you consider that the rear stands they make are made from crackers, ready to f...

Re: Vid on Indian girder forks

I searched for a NH petrol tank on ebay, and there was a few - I went for the cheapest one, delivered all finished with chrome and paint, looking decent on the pics. Sent a message to the seller, asking for the best possible finish and to make sure it was straight, thight and true. Out from India ca...

Re: Vid on Indian girder forks

These guys makes and repairs girder forks, quality stuff it seems - and surely at a price. But if you cannot get an original fork, this may be the only way. https://www.jake-robbins-vintage-engineering.co.uk/

Re: NGK, Carbon and my W/NG

I run a russian made 350 two stroke on a NGK B8HS plug, and there's a lot more happening around the plug there - 3-4% premix oil in fuel, an explosion every turn of the crank, and generally a lot hotter for the poor NGK. Haven't changed the plug for the last 3-4000 miles (abt. 6000kms), even haven't...

Re: KICK START JAMMING

I just pull the clutch while trodding lightly on the kick, that usually clears the jam.

Re: Tappet Cover Breather.

It is a Morgo plunger pump fitted, but I read that many do use Morgo's without problems. The cylinder was in very good nick, so I just lightly honed it, and fitted a new piston with new rings. Compression is very good. To further explain what I think is going on: The reed valve crank vent and the se...
